Follow the LEADER????

You know you clubhouse is in trouble when your leader is the closer. That is exactly what is going on in the Mets clubhouse these days. Billy Wagner has assumed control in the Mets clubhouse and has no problem telling it like it is. Especially on the radio, newspapers, and t.v. It all started the other day when starting pitcher Oliver Perez pitched just and inning and a third during a 13-1 beating from the hands of the Pirates. Wagner criticized Oliver Perez for not finding a way to stay in the game longer to relieve a taxed bullpen. He said that Perez took it as a bad start and that he'll get them next time. Now I have no problem in what Wagner said. My problem is that he took it to the media to do it.

After a couple of days of Wagner continuing to talk manager Willie Randolph has finally put an end to it. Yesterday before the game he took Wagner into his office and told him to keep his problems in house. We'll see how long that will last. This team is a joke. Where are your position players that are supposed to be the leaders? Billy Wagner are you kidding me? The day you don't blow a big game is the day I'll listen to you. Where is David Wright? Everyone looks to you to lead and yet you do nothing. Jose Reyes? Yeah Right. He is a clown. Maybe some of the veterans will step up. Delgado? He better keep quiet until he starts hitting. Beltran? He should be the leader in my opinion but he is not hitting right now and can never stay healthy. The Mets have no real leaders.

Willie would like the players to police themselves.

“If they feel they need to get into their face and say something, that’s what they should be doing,” Randolph said. “That’s what teams are all about. If it’s going to help him or not, I don’t know. It all depends how Oliver takes it. I spoke to Oliver about it, and he seemed fine. He owned up to the fact he had a rough outing. He didn’t pitch well. He wanted to get better. He knows he needs to get better.”

Come on Willie. Are you kidding me? Police themselves. YOU NEED A LEADER!!! You mark my words Willie. The way this team is headed will cost you your job. Policing themselves only makes it look like you have no control over them. A team with 40 guys doing their own thing is a team with no shot at winning. Good luck on the unemployment line.
